Red Cross assisting two Kenton families after house fire

The American Red Cross of Hardin County is helping two families involved in a home fire on Tuesday in Kenton.

Red Cross volunteers responded to a call for help at the home on W. North Street and provided the families with assistance for temporary shelter and immediate needs such as food and clothing. They also provided the family with Red Cross comfort kits of personal hygiene items.

Red Cross volunteers will continue to work with the family, providing additional assistance as needed and help with recovery planning including information, resources and referrals.

Ghanaian dance and drumming expert wraps up a year in Ada

The end of the academic year brings many goodbyes, and that includes a farewell to Benjamin Obido Ayettey. 

He returns to his native Ghana in June after spending the academic year in Ada teaching African drumming and dance at Ohio Northern University as a Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence.

Ada schools will have a preschool classroom next fall

Ada schools announced the opening of a preschool classroom for the 2016-17 school year. The annoucement is on the school website and school Facebook.

Midwest Regional Educational Service Center is holding a preschool screening Thursday, May 5, at Ada schools.

The Village Voice: How will you celebrate Arbor Day?

All around the nation, Arbor Day will be celebrated this Friday, April 29h. According to the Arbor Day Foundation, an estimated one million trees were planted in Nebraska on the first Arbor Day in April 1872.

In their annual tradition, Ada Tree Commission is excited to visit with Ada 3rd graders on April 29 to talk about Arbor Day and planting and caring for the trees around us. Mayor Davis Retterer once again has invited the students to be active artist participants in the celebration by drawing pictures of woodworking.
