3 ONU athletes set to compete in nationals

Seniors Lucas Shumate and Kase Schalois and junior Matt Molinaro are set to compete in the 2017 NCAA Div. III National Championships this weekend in Geneva, Ohio.

Shumate makes his second appearance at the national meet during the 2017 season. The senior competed at the indoor meet in the weight throw for the Polar Bears. Shumate will represent Northern in the hammer throw. The senior qualified for the event with a toss of 184' 8" at the Dr. Keeler Invitational and currently ranks 19th nationally in the event.  He will compete in the prelims of the event at 1:30 pm on Saturday May, 27.

Kenton student scores high in tennis and studies at ONU

ONU sophomore Jake Abbot (Kenton) has been named Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference for men's tennis in 2017.

The sophomore pharmacy major earned the honor for the first time in his career.

Abbot was tied for second on the team with 12 singles victories and also posted double digit victories in doubles.

The Polar Bears went 11-11 in 2017 under first year head coach Mike Bonnell.

Women golfers good at academics, too

The Ohio Northern women's golf team saw three members earn Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference in 2017.

Seniors Jennifer Hipskind (Fort Wayne, Ind./Dwenger) and Ariana Tomasula (Rocky River/Lutheran West) and sophomore Caitlin Silva (Hilliard/Bradley) all earned the honor.

Hipskind, a pharmacy major, earned her third career Academic All-OAC honor.

The senior ranks sixth on the team, averaging 92.8 strokes per round. 

Hipskind is also a Women's Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar.

Tomasula, an accounting major, was named Academic All-OAC for the second time in her career.

Tomasula is also a WGCA All-American Scholar.

Bayhomes of Bluffton have two weekend open houses

Two weekend open houses by Bayhomes of Bluffton are planned in the Parkview Development, according to Keith McClintock of McClintock Builders.

The open houses are from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, May 27-28 and June 3-4, according to McClintock.

The houses open to the public have the following features:

ONU athletes and coach gain regional honors

Juniors Matt Molinaro (Sterling Heights, Mich./DeLaSalle) and Emily Richards (Delaware/Hayes) and head coach Jason Maus have all earned United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association regional honors.

Richards won her second consecutive honor as the Great Lakes Region Female Track Athlete of the Year after claiming the same honor during the 2017 indoor season.

She currently owns the fastest time nationally in the 800-meter and 1,500-meter runs and ranks in the top-5 nationally in the 400-meter dash.

The junior will compete at the national meet in the 800-meter run and in the 1,500-meter run.

Ada Barnyard Farmers 4-H report

On May 21, 2017 Ada Barnyard Farmers had another successful meeting.  Recreation was led by Wyatt Ferguson, in which he brought us in with the game Ninga.  Role call was led by Melia santillanez and the treasurers report was led by Riley Ferguson.  Unfinished business was the talk about the Garage sale.  It is going to be June 17 At 10810 Reservoir rd Ada, Ohio.  There will be items and baked goods, so make sure to come.  Demonstrations were by Alden Boulanger, Neilan Boulander, Hannah Beach, Kayla Wince, Alyssa Wince, Alex Beach.  Quality Assurance was done well by Rachel Underwood, one of our Advisors in our club.  Then we ended with refreshments by Alden and Neilan Boulanger, Dakota an
