Harvest & Herb Festival parade sign-up is underway

September 17 parade begins at 10 a.m., lineup 9 a.m.

Now is the time to sign up groups and businesses for the 36th Annual Harvest & Herb Parade, a program of the Ada Area Chamber of Commerce.

Saturday, September 17, 2022

Start: 10:00 a.m.

Lineup: 9:00 a.m. 

The parade will take place rain or shine

Please submit signed applications (attached) to Parade Chairman Junior Weihrauch by August 30.

Gearing up for July 16 bike ride through Ada

The Bluffton Lions Foundation is ready to host riders in the eighth annual Bluffton Ride to Remember on July 16, 2022, which includes an Ada Loop.

Three loops will be marked and mapped, providing riders rest stops with water, ice and snacks, as well as emergency support. Riders also receive a swag bag with treats from local businesses and a lunch coupon.

The Fun Loop is 11 miles. Great for young families and new cyclists, portions use Bluffton's bicycle paths, which are the beneficiary of the fundraiser.

May 11 meeting of Hardin Co. Astronomy Club

7 p.m. at Kenton Courthouse

The Hardin County Astronomy Club will meet at 7 p.m. on Wednesday May 11 in the Veterans meeting room in the Kenton Courthouse. 

Those present will be given a draft of the Constitution and bylaws for the club. 

There will be a program by Josh Crawford.  Also, the Constellation Virgo will be
introduced.  Ideas for the James Webb Space Telescope first light events
will be discussed if time permits.

“Our customers are family”: Norada Lanes hosts benefits for Caskie family

“I can’t say enough about that young man,” says Vickie Wolber, owner of Norada Lanes of Troy Caskie, in whose name the bowling alley will hold two benefit events in May 2022; “He just had a smile that when you saw it, you couldn’t be in a bad mood anymore.”

Troy Caskie passed away on September 6, 2021 at age 31. A graduate of Cory-Rawson High School, he was married to Jessie Melton Caskie. His obituary describes him as “a family man whose greatest joy was spending time with his wife and family.”

Free document shredding at Liberty National Bank

Attention, spring cleaners: Did you see our earlier announcement that Liberty National Bank is offering free document shredding this week, May 2 -7?

The bank at 118 S. Main, will have available locked containers for individuals to drop off unwanted paperwork to be destroyed. These containers will be available during office hours, Monday through Saturday, May 2-6.

Please limit the shred to 5 boxes, no larger than 20” wide x 10” high.

This is a free service to the community to help fight the growing concern of identity theft. It is estimated that as many as 9 million U.S. residents have their identities stolen every year.

May 8 events at The Cask Room include Senior Cabaret

The Cask Room, 127 S. Main St. will be hosting two events on Saturday, May 7.

4-6:00 p.m. The Cask Room will be closed for a private event, the Hardin County Democrats Fundraiser for Claire Osborne.

9:00 p.m. Ohio Northern University Musical Theatre 2022 Seniors will be perform their Senior Cabaret accompanied by Michael Jordan, ONU resident artist.

This is a change of date and time for the Senior Cabaret.
