Lincoln Highway Buy Way sales on weekend of August 10-12

August 10-12 marks the 19th annual Lincoln Highway Buy Way Yard Sales across the State of Ohio.

The historic Lincoln Highway was the first transcontinental road for automobile travel in the United States, dedicated in 1913 and extending from New York City’s Times Square to San Francisco’s Lincoln Park. Combined, various routes across Ohio comprise over 400 miles today.

JUST FOR KIDS: STREAM STROLL

1:00 – 2:30 p.m., Friday, August 4 and Saturday, August 5
Kids, ages 5-12, are invited to explore life in a creek. We will be searching  the creek for clues of who lives there by using dip nets and hand lenses. Be  prepared to get wet and muddy. Lineup for 7th annual Made in Ada Wilson Football Festival on August 26

With just over one month until the 7th Annual Made in Ada Wilson Football Festival, the Ada Area Chamber of Commerce has a full lineup of events planned for Saturday, August 26. 

The Made in Ada Wilson Football Festival celebrates Ada’s remarkable contribution to the sport of football. It includes an evening of fun with live music, food trucks, a beer tent, raffles, kid zone and the one and only Wilson Football drop.

10:00 a.m. - 93.1 The Fan radio will be broadcasting “Out of Bounds with Danny Holbrook” LIVE from Ohio Northern’s Dial Roberson Stadium. Sports fans are welcome to come out, listen to the show, and grab some free goodies.

11:30 a.m. - PPKUSA registration begins at Dial Roberson Stadium. This FREE Punt, Pass & Kick USA event is for boys and girls ages 6-15.

1:00 p.m. - The original football skills competition, est. 1961. https://www.ppkusa.com/ Qualifiers advance to the National Finals.

5:00-10:00 p.m. - Downtown fun at the Ada Depot Park. 

LIVE MUSIC
Headliner: Voodoo Lane. Opening band: Turning Point Band.

St. Mark Lutheran hosts July 2023 Community Meal

Over 150 meals served at June event

St. Mark Lutheran Church--at the corner of Lincoln and Johnson in Ada--
will again be hosting it's Community Meal on Wednesday, July 26 from 5-6:30 p.m. (or until they run out).

The meal is free and open to the community.

The July menu:

Tom's famous meat loaf
Scalloped potatoes
Green beans
Fruit
Cookie. 

As always, you may dine in, carry out, or drive up for curbside service.

Organizers note, "Last month over 150 meals were served. We look forward to seeing you there."

Programs on worm composting and growing cabbage, broccoli and kohlrabi

HARDIN COUNTY–The Hardin County OSU Extension Master Gardener Volunteers are hosting summer garden programs at the Friendship Gardens of Hardin County located at 960 W. Kohler Street in Kenton. The programs will continue with an event on “Worm Composting” on July 20, and another on “Growing Cabbage, Broccoli, and Kohlrabi” on August 17.

A great way to make the richest and cheapest compost for all your garden plants is to practice Worm Composting. Join Hardin County OSU Extension Master Gardener Volunteer Kim Thomas on Thursday, July 20 from 6:00-7:00 pm for this educational program to enhance your garden’s soil.

Want to know the best techniques for growing cabbage, broccoli, and kohlrabi? Learn the tricks on how to grow these delicious vegetables, and tips on how to keep them pest and disease free. This program will be held Thursday, August 17 from 6:00-7:00 pm and will be presented by Hardin County OSU Extension Master Gardener Volunteer Stewart Coats.
