Youth bowling offered Saturdays at Norada Lanes

Norada Lanes will offer junior bowling for youth ages kindergarten through grade 12 on Saturday mornings 10 a.m.

The Saturday sessions started on Dec. 1.

Regular season runs through Dec 1-March 2, with season ending tournament March 9. Youth will bowl three games with a meal and drink for $10. Youth with a parent bowling in an adult league at Norada will be $8.

ONU to present student art exhibition

The Ohio Northern University Department of Art and Design will hold its annual Student Juried Art and Design Exhibition in the Elzay Gallery of Art from Dec. 1-9.  A public reception and awards presentation will be held Sunday, Dec. 2, from 2-4 p.m.

For many years, a committee of sophomore art and design majors has been responsible for organizing and presenting the show, traditionally the most popular gallery event of the academic year.

This year’s exhibition features original work in a variety of media, such as ceramics, oils and watercolors, photographs, graphic design, drawings, sculpture, mixed media, and printmaking.

"The Autobiography of Santa Claus" Dec. 4 library book discussion

There's still time to join the December adult book discuss at the Ada Public Library.

Join the library on Tuesday, Dec. 4, at 7 p.m. to discuss "The Autobiography of Santa Claus" as told to Jeff Guinn

Santa reveals his story for the first time. Nicholas (his real name) was born in the  Middle Eastern country of Lycia to wealthy parents who died when he was young. The kind people of Lycia taught him the lessons of goodness and generosity, which he began to practice as a child by sharing his wealth with those in need.

Rhythm in Motion annual Christmas performance Dec. 1 in Lima

Rhythm in Motion Dance Center, Ada, will perform in its annual Christmas Magic  Jingle and Rock 2012 holiday dance performance at 3 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 1, at Lima Senior High School Auditorium.

Several of the students in the performance are from Ada and neighboring school districts.

All seats are reserved. Tickets are $10 presale or $12 at the door. Contact Darcey Schneider, 419-236-7651 for tickets.

Just in time for Christmas: Elementary book fair Dec. 3 to 7

An elementary book fair, just in time for Christmas, takes place in the Ada school media center Monday through Friday, Dec. 3-7.

Book fair hours follow:

Monday: 12-3 p.m.
Tuesday: 12-4 p.m.
Wednesday: 12-5 p.m.
Thursday: 12-6 p.m. (with a family event from 6:30 -8:30 p.m.)
Friday: 12-7 p.m.

On Thursday, Dec. 6, will be the grades 4-5 musical performance at 9:30 a.m. and 7 p.m.The Book fair will be at the 7 p.m. performance.

Ada HS students need permission slips to leave school grounds for lunch Dec. 12

Attention Ada High School students (grades 9-12): You will be allowed to leave school grounds for lunch on Wednesday, Dec. 12, from 11:40 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. provided a completed permission slip has to be turned into the office by 9 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12.

If a student did not receive a permission slip, one is available in the high school office. Turn permission slips into the HSO.

This is for all Ada HS students students, except those involved in Varsity Singers, Cheerleaders, and JV and Varsity girls and boys basketball. Those students will need to stay and serve at the Senior Citizen’s Luncheon on Dec. 12th.
