Verizon announces 5G service in Ada

CAMBRIDGE, OH--Ada is among the locations that now have access to a 5G network from Verizon. Residents across Sylvania, Swanton, Lima, Ada, Mount Vernon, Zanesville, and Cambridge now have access to higher speeds and greater capacity. Verizon call it "5G Ultra Wideband power and performance comparable to a wired broadband internet connection to customers’ pockets."

Wilson Sporting Goods breaks ground on new Ada factory

On Tuesday, May 16, Wilson Sporting Goods Co. hosted a groundbreaking ceremony to celebrate the construction of an expanded factory in Ada adjacent to the existing factory at Highland and Liberty streets. General Manager Kevin Murphy of Wilson Team Sports and Andy Wentling, Plant Manager of the Wilson Football Factory welcomed community representatives and media from across Ohio to learn about ways Wilson will “deepen its roots [in Ada] with a new facility more than double in size of the current plant.”

May chamber meeting is an evening mixer

The May 2023 Ada Area Chamber of Commerce membership meeting will be an evening social rather than an early bird breakfast. Members are invited to the patio at The Inn at Ohio Northern University on Wednesday, May 17 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. 

Organizers note, "We will be sharing details of our summer events and hear updates from our members who attend."

Among details expected is a preview of the upcoming May 18-20 Summer Sidewalk and Community Garage Sales event.

New EAP resource for small businesses

May 25 webinar provides information on EAP benefit program

KENTON-—A new program for small businesses will mean access to valuable counseling and recovery services for thousands of employees across the region. The Mental Health and Recovery Services Board is partnering with New York-based ENI to provide free EAP (Employee Assistance Program) services to small businesses across Hardin, Allen and Auglaize counties.

The pilot program will target businesses with fewer than 100 employees, offering them one free year of access to NexGen EAP Plus benefits. This program would give their employees access to a variety of resources, ranging from health insurance advocacy to a nationwide network of more than 40,000
counselors.

Chamber garage sale promotion deadline is May 12

The Ada Area Chamber of Commerce is reminding area residents to register garage sales by Friday, May 12 for the May 18-19-20 Summer Sidewalk and Community Garage Sales promotion.
