2024 Northwest Ohio Agronomy Crops Day February 7 - Alan Leininger
Henry County will be hosting the 2024 Northwest Ohio Agronomy Crops Day on February 7th, 2024. This year’s featured speakers are Bruce Clevenger Field Specialist, Farm Management Ohio State University Extension presenting on the topic of Economics of Farm Drainage and Dr. Vinayak Shedekar, Assistant Professor Department of Food, Agriculture, & Biological Engineering Ohio State University. Ohio Corn Performance Test (OCPT) 2023 Results - Rich Minyo, Osler Ortez
The Ohio Corn Performance Test (OCPT) was started in Ohio in 1972. To date, it has a history of 50+ years. The purpose of OCPT is to evaluate corn hybrids for grain yield and other important agronomic characteristics. Results of the test assist farmers in selecting hybrids best suited to their farming operations and production environments and complement recommendations made by seed companies and breeding programs. CrispyJo restaurant opens with crispy chicken and Mediterranean menu

A Bluffton dining gap has been filled with the opening of CrispyJo at 415 State Route 103, the western-most restaurant along “Restaurant Row” near I-75. The building housed KFC and then Li CO restaurant and has been empty for some years. In January 2024 the installation of a new sign revealed that the wait for an additional dining option was almost over.

Stahler promoted to CAO at Quest Federal Credit Union.

KENTON__Krane Stahler of Kenton, Ohio has recently been promoted to the Chief Accounting Officer position of Quest Federal Credit Union. Krane began his career after graduating from Ohio Northern University in 2008 as a public accountant for an area audit and tax accounting firm and after five years in that role, started his Quest career in 2014.

Field reports from the Ohio Division of Wildlife for January 23, 2024

Northwest Ohio – Wildlife District Two 
In October, State Wildlife Officer Jason Porinchok, assigned to Putnam County, attended the 2023 Putnam County annual Pheasants Forever Black Swamp Chapter Youth Pheasant Hunt. The Black Swamp Chapter of Pheasants Forever partnered with Kalida Fish and Game Club to offer the hunt. Hunters aged 17 and under had the opportunity to hunt ring-necked pheasants with bird dogs and their handlers. More than 50 youth from Putnam County attended, and most were successful in harvesting a bird.   

Hardin OSU Extension offers beef quality assurance training

HARDIN COUNTY__A Beef Quality Assurance certification training is scheduled for Monday, February 19 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Hardin County OSU Extension office located at 1021 W Lima Street in Kenton.
