Ada's latest news

The Icon's Florida correspondent, Monty Siekerman, provides the following report, during his winter vacation in that southern state:

I’d rather make a donation in the milk aisle instead of the frozen meat case at Dollar General.

The nearest DG to us now has about 20 angus cows and one donkey in the field adjacent to the DG parking lot.

Icon viewers:
Thank you Hardin County! Our campaign ended with a total of $176,862 of the $150,000 goal!

We looked at the situation of the upcoming year and asked for less, knowing the hardships people face, and yet our community gave above and beyond to cover the actual need.

The United Way of Hardin County Board of Directors and I want to thank every individual and business who donated in any way or amount. Our community came together BIG to not only meet our goal, but go over!

Thank you Hardin County; what a way to end a crazy year and begin another!

ADA - The host Ada boys basketball team played its first game in three weeks vs. Delphos Jefferson and came up short 46-34 in Northwest Conference action Friday night.

The Bulldogs trailed just 16-15 early in the second period after a fake handoff and baseline-driving layup from senior Tristan Conley.

But Jefferson then reeled off nine unanswered points and ended the half on an 11-1 run to take control of the contest and lead 27-16 by intermission.

DJ led by as many as 18 in the second half, and Ada never got closer than 10 the rest of the way.
