Prostate enlargement treatment

Most of us are familiar with Benjamin Franklin's quote from 1789; "nothing is certain except death and taxes." To the men reading this column, we will add a third certainty: PROSTATE ENLARGEMENT! As men grow older and wiser, the prostate tends to follow. That doesn't mean that every man will develop voiding symptoms.

The prostate is a small gland located at the bottom of the bladder. It makes up the beginning of the tube that drains the bladder (urethra). Its primary function is to produce fluids important for the viability of the sperm.

The Bluffton industry has hired and trained over 375 persons in the program

FROM BLUFFTON ICON - GROB, Bluffton, is searching for its next class of apprentices. Over the past years, several persons in the program are Ada High School graduates.

The application deadline for the 2021 class is Wednesday, March 31.

The apprenticeship program at GROB Systems has been in place at the Bluffton production plant for 30 years. The goal of the program is to build the company’s future workforce with employees who are trained in a highly technical way that matches the growing needs of their customers and products.

To date, GROB Bluffton has hired and trained over 375 apprentices.

Due to yesterday's water main break on Ream Street

The boil water advisory issued yesterday to two Ada neighbors is now lifted, according to the village.

The advisory was a result of a water main break on Ream Street. The boil alert affected the 300 block of Ream and 300 to 557 blocks of East University.

An e-mail message stated:
"We are pleased to report that the problem has been corrected and that it is no longer necessary to boil drinking water. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience."

 

Karen Lee Kiene, 60, died Feb. 10, 2021, at her residence in Bluffton. Karen was born March 28, 1960 in Bluffton to the late Laverne and Sarah (Wenger) Moser. On Aug. 5, 2002, she married Gregory Kiene who preceded her in death on March 9, 2018.

Karen graduated from Bluffton High School. She had worked at Metakote in Lima for 13 years. She was a member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ - Bluffton. 

Gary Paul Richardson, 74, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 11, 2021, at 2:42 a.m. at his residence.

He was born on May 19, 1946, in Lima to Paul E. and Betty Jean (Rose) Richardson, Sr.  His father preceded him in death and his mother survives in Harrod. On Nov. 28, 1965, Gary married Deborah K. Long and she survives in Harrod.

Gary was a lifelong farmer and a former member of the Ohio Farm Bureau.  He was a member of the Crossroads Church of God, Lima. He was a former member of the Allen East School Board and of the Allen Lima Leadership (ALL). Gary was a member of the Elks Lodge - Lima B.P.O.E. #54.

For College of Engineering funding Lima Senior High School STEM Learning

Ohio Northern University has been awarded a $10,000 grant from the PPG Foundation on behalf of its coatings services facility located in Lima.

The funds will support the ONU College of Engineering’s STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) activities with students from Lima Senior High School.

With the grant funding, ONU’s engineering and computer science professors and students will provide interactive educational STEM experiences to students in the Engineering and Technology Program at Lima Senior.

The Engineering Technology Program is one of Lima Senior’s 11 Career and Technical Education offerings.
