Here's how the Polar Bear lacrosse teams fared in North Carolina

Both ONU lacrosse teams traveled to North Carolina for spring tune-ups last week. Here’s a report on their week.

Men’s team
BREVARD, N.C. — The Ohio Northern men's lacrosse program toppled NCAA Division III foe Brevard (N.C.) 15-8 at Ives-Lemel Field Saturday, concluding an undefeated Spring Break road trip to North Carolina.

With the victory, the Polar Bears improve to 4-1 overall this season. In addition, they conclude their annual Spring Break trip with a 3-0 record after defeating Guilford (N.C.) 6-4 and Pfeiffer (N.C.) 22-8 earlier this week.

Meanwhile, the Tornados move to 2-4 in 2019 after dropping their past three contests.

Special school board meeting March 6

The Ada school board will meet in executive session at 6 p.m., Wednesday, March 6, according to Meri Skilliter, superintendent.

The meeting will take place with the board's attorney for the purpose of prreparing for negotiations.

Tuesday council meeting begins at 6 p.m.

Will open with an executive session

Ada's council meeting on Tuesday will begin at 6 p.m. and the council will enter executive session at that time, according to Angela Polachek, village administrative assistant.

The regular council meeting will resume immediately following the executive session.  The meeting will be held in council chambers.

Late run leads Bulldog boys over Bears

DOLA - Ada closed its county rivalry game at Hardin Northern on a 10-1 run to post a hard-fought 60-48 non-conference win in a rare Thursday night contest.

The purple and gold improved to 5-16 overall with their second straight win, while HN finished its regular season 7-15 after the makeup game defeat.

"It was a big win for us heading into a tough conference battle against a skilled Bluffton team," said Ada third-year head coach Dre White. "I was very proud of how we closed the game. That's been a nemesis for us this season.

Ada council will act on several pieces of legislation regarding two major street projects on Tuesday, Feb. 19.

Council will consider resolutions involving agreements for:
• engineering and services for a manhole chimney reconstruction project
• material testing and services for Ream Street water replacement project
• material testing and services for Ream Street storm sewer improvements
• material testing and services for Willeke Avenue reconstruction project
• Farm lease agreement with Dan Keller

Dr. Amy Mullins elected Ada school board president

Matt Gossman will serve as vice-president

Dr. Amy Mullins was elected board president and Matt Gossman board vice president at the 2019 Ada school board reorganization meeting held Jan. 10.

The following board members represent the school district on board committees:
• Troy Erickson and Ron Fleming – policy committee
• Amy Mullins – student achievement liaison to the Ohio School Boards Association
• Ron Fleming – tax abatement committee
• Ernie Daughtery – scholarship committee
• Troy Erickson and Amy Mullins – audit committee
• Ron Fleming and Matt Gossman – building and grounds committee
