Ada' "buy local" group working on local awareness

Let’s promote it locally.

Although it’s waiting Ada council’s okay, the Ada Buy Local Committee hopes to hold a Music on Main event to bring people downtown Ada this summer and to bring attention to buying things locally.

The event is tentatively scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, July 13, in the depot parking lot. Richard Gainey, station manager of WONB FM, will provide the music; Ada residents will provide their own chairs for the informal fun evening.

ONU to host 25 students for the LSAC DiscoverLaw.org PLUS program

The Ohio Northern University Pettit College of Law will host 25 students from around the nation for the Law School Admission Council (LSAC) DiscoverLaw.org Pre-Law Undergraduate Scholars (PLUS) Program beginning Monday, June 4.

The program is funded through a grant from LSAC. Law schools that qualify for PLUS grants receive as much as $100,000 per year for up to three years. This marks the third year that ONU’s College of Law has been involved in the program.

Pharmacy alumni, faculty and students recognized at OPA conference

Alumni, faculty and students from the Raabe College of Pharmacy at Ohio Northern University received numerous awards and honors during the 134rd Ohio Pharmacists Association (OPA) Annual Conference and Trade Show in Columbus, Ohio, from April 20-22.

Kiwanis Club provides two Ada students with scholarships

President Harold Friesner called the 29th meeting of the 2011–2012 Kiwanis year to order at 12:05 p.m. in McIntosh Center, Ohio Northern University, Ada.

The Invocation was offered by Kiwanian Jon Umphress.

The birthday of member Al Baillis, (May 11th 88 years young) was celebrated in song.

The membership anniversary of Jon Umphress, May 6, 1997 (15 years) was noted.

The wedding anniversary of Jeff & Anne Schulman, (May 7th) was also noted.

Member Accomplishments: Mark Shull and Bill Fuller were at the meeting to tell us about their recent endeavors in the hospital.

Kiwanis Club scholarship winners

Two Ada High School seniors were presented scholarships from the Ada Kiwanis Club on May 16.

The club presented scholarship awards of $1,000 each to Heather Rowe and Mackenzie Fell the annual Ada High School Senior Awards dinner.
