Hardin County Museum kicks off Holidays with Dec. 2 open house

The Hardin County Historical Museum, Kenton, Ohio will kick off the holiday season on December 2 with a Christmas Open House. 

The Sullivan-Johnson House will be decorated from top to bottom using the theme “Old Fashioned Christmas”.  The event will feature the opening of the Civil War 150 exhibit.  Hardin County is home to two Medal of Honor recipients, Jacob Parrott and Delano Morey. 

Both men received their Medals for action during the Civil War.  In addition to the Medal display will be an exhibit on the Ohio 82nd.  The Museum will be open 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.  Admission is free. 

Ohio Northern University Raabe College of Pharmacy honored at NCPA national convention

The Ohio Northern University Raabe College of Pharmacy student chapter of the National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA) was honored with a trio of chapter awards at the 114th annual NCPA Convention and Trade Exposition in San Diego in October. Two ONU pharmacy scholarship recipients also were recognized at the event.

ONU’s NCPA student chapter won the 2012 Legislative Advocacy Award for the top chapter in the nation in legislative and advocacy activities. The award comes with a $1,000 travel stipend for students to attend the NCPA Legislative Conference in May 2013.

Twilight Breaking Dawn Part 2 now showing at Ada Theatre

"Twilight Breaking Dawn Part 2" rated PG-13 is now showing at the Ada Theatre, according to James Curlis, owner.

Shows follow:

• Friday and Saturday 7 and 9:30 p.m.

• Saturday and Sunday matinee at 4 p.m.

• Daily at 7 p.m.

Ada loses hard fought battle to St. Henry in regional semifinal round

Faced with bad weather and a large point deficit to overcome late in the game, Ada fought a stiff battle against the St. Henry Redskins of the Midwest Athletic Conference, but came up just short of victory with a final score of 40-35 last Friday night at Lima Stadium.

Betty Jo Sherman, 1934-2012

Betty Jo Sherman, 78, died on Monday, Nov. 5, 2012 at 6:10 p.m. at Richland Manor Nursing Home, Bluffton.

She was born on Sept. 27, 1934 in Hardin County, Ohio to Carl B. and Rhea (McElroy) Gardner who preceded her in death.

She first married Grover Boutwell and they were divorced and he preceded her in death in 1975. She then married Billy L. Sherman on June 13, 1973 and he survives in Ada.

Betty was a homemaker. She was a member of the Living Faith Ministries in Mendon, Ohio. She was a life member of the Ada VFW Post #9381 Women's Auxiliary and a life member of the Disabled American Veterans Post #3003 Ladies Auxiliary of Findlay.
