Central Ohio Transit Authority CEO to speak at ONU

Joanna M. Pinkerton, PE, BSCE ’98, president and CEO of Central Ohio Transit Authority (COTA), will serve as the keynote speaker for Ohio Northern University T.J. Smull College of Engineering’s 2024 Spotts Lecture. The free, public event will take place Monday, Feb. 19 at 7 p.m. in the Freed Center for the Performing Arts.

Pinkerton’s presentation is titled, “Who Are You Engineering For?”

COTA is a regional mobility organization providing services to Columbus and Central Ohio. With a service area covering 562 square miles across five counties serving 1.4 million residents, COTA employs more than 1,000 team members and provided more than 19 million passenger trips in 2019. Since joining COTA in April 2018, Pinkerton has focused on organizational transformation— delivering innovative mobility solutions in response to a rapidly growing community and changing customer preferences, as well as addressing equity issues with both the physical and digital mobility needs of many residents.

Roof repairs, electronic controls update and K-12 expansion to be addressed

The Board of Education of the  Ada Exempted Village Schools held a rare Saturday afternoon meeting on January 20 in coordination with required training for its members. 

The meeting included a presentation by Sara Little of Energy Optimizers USA on the opportunity to utilize Ohio Council of Educational Purchasing Consortia contracts for HVAC and roofing. The school building has an urgent need for work on the flat roofs, which have been leaking in places.

In 1991, the film Hook directed by Steven Spielberg was released. The film was the sequel to the 1911 novel Peter & Wendy. The movie starred Robin Williams as Peter Pan, Dustin Hoffman as Captain Hook, and Julia Roberts as Tinkerbell. Jimmy Buffett and David Crosby made cameo appearances as pirates in the movie. 

Titus retires from Quest Federal Credit Union

KENTON__Sherrill Titus of Kenton, Ohio has recently retired as the Chief Accounting Officer of Quest Federal Credit Union. Sherrill began her career with the credit union in 1988 and during her time  she worked her way from Member Service Representative to the Teller Manager role and then into the  accounting department.

PHOTO Dance the night

At halftime of the Saturday, January 20 Bulldog JV basketball game, fans took a dance break with cheeleaders big and little. The Ada High School cheeleaders led participants from the January 2024 K-6th grade cheer clinic through routines including the Dua Lipa's Dance the Night from the Barbie movie.

The January 17 meeting of the Ada Area Chamber of Commerce was an opportunity to hear what lies in store for the village in 2024. Director Lindsay Walden Hollar provided members with a list of events through June 2024 including the programs to be presented at each monthly meeting.
