Bulldog girls basketball rolls over Calvary Christian on Sr. Night

ADA__The Ada High School girls basketball team jumped on top early and rolled over visiting Calvary Christian 54-23 in a non-league game on February 6 to celebrate Senior Night in style.

The Bulldogs led 20-5 at the end of the first period as seniors Mariah King and Olivia Burkhart combined for 13 points. 

The Bulldog girls stretched the lead to 35-10 at halftime as the duo combined for 27 points by intermission. Ada won the second half, 19-13.

Southpaw King poured in 15 of her career-high 19 points in the first half. Burkhart netted 12 of her 15 markers before intermission.

Ada improved to 9-11 with the lopsided non-conference victory, their second win in a row. Meanwhile, CC fell to 14-3 after the defeat.

“We had a lot of energy, it was the most we have come out to start a game with all year,” said Bulldog head coach Zach Ricker. “We seemed relaxed.

Hardin County Democratics to hold Presidents’ Day Luncheon

Senator Sherrod Brown’s brother, Charlie Brown, will be the featured speaker at the Hardin County Democratic Party’s Presidents’ Day Luncheon on Saturday, February 17, from 12:00-2:00 p.m. at the Kenton Elks Lodge, 157 West Franklin Street.  Brown, a former West Virginia Attorney General, will be joined by Democratic candidates for federal and state office.

Answers and more questions about occupancy for Ada's 1887 Passenger Depot

In a follow up from the December 19, 2023 meeting of the Ada Council, Village Administrator Jamie Hall has researched the certificate of occupancy for the 1887 Ada Passenger Depot at 9 Central Ave. It shows an occupant load of 25 people.

Henry County will be hosting the 2024 Northwest Ohio Agronomy Crops Day on February 7th, 2024. This year’s featured speakers are Bruce Clevenger Field Specialist, Farm Management Ohio State University Extension presenting on the topic of Economics of Farm Drainage and Dr. Vinayak Shedekar, Assistant Professor Department of Food, Agriculture, & Biological Engineering Ohio State University. Ohio Corn Performance Test (OCPT) 2023 Results - Rich Minyo, Osler Ortez
The Ohio Corn Performance Test (OCPT) was started in Ohio in 1972. To date, it has a history of 50+ years. The purpose of OCPT is to evaluate corn hybrids for grain yield and other important agronomic characteristics. Results of the test assist farmers in selecting hybrids best suited to their farming operations and production environments and complement recommendations made by seed companies and breeding programs.
