Allen County ESC and Apollo Career Center host annual College Fair

The Allen County Educational Service Center and Apollo Career Center are excited to announce the annual Allen County College Fair, which will be held on March 26, 2024, 5:30 p.m.- 7:30 p.m., at Apollo Career Center. This event provides high school students the opportunity to connect with various colleges and universities, providing them with valuable information and resources for those looking at postsecondary options.

The College Fair will feature representatives from a wide range of institutions, including local and regional colleges, universities, trade schools, and military branches. Attendees will have the opportunity to interact directly with representatives to ask questions about admissions, programs, financial aid, scholarships, and campus life, among other topics.

Tuesday, March 19 is Election Day. The polls are open from 6:30 a.m.-7:30 p.m. There are two polling places for the Ada area: Ada North and South Precincts vote at Ada Community Health Professionals, 1200 S. Main St. Liberty Township voters vote at the Center on Central, 111 Central Ave.

Governor declares State of Emergency in 11 Ohio counties

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine issued a proclamation on March 17, declaring a state of emergency across 11 counties impacted by last week's severe weather.

EF 3 Lakeview tornado among seven March 14 tornadoes in this region

A Public Information Statement from the National Weather Service in Wilmington OH on Fri Mar 15 provided the following tornado confirmations from Thursday, March 14:

Numerous long-track tornadoes have occurred, and our continued analysis will work to determine if some of these long swaths of damage are the result of a single tornado or multiple separate tornadoes.

Seven areas of tornadic damage have been identified within the NWS Wilmington OH coverage area. This count may change as we continue to assess the continuity of the damage.

* EF3 beginning in southern Auglaize County OH near Fryburg, continuing through the Lakeview area in northern Logan County OH. (An EF3 tornado has estimated wind speeds between 136 and 165 mph.)
