Richland Manor Hope for Holidays raffle offers $650 in prizes; Ada's ReStore receives raffle proceeds

Richland Manor invites Icon viewers to participate in its Hope for the Holidays Christmas raffle. The raffle benefits the Ada ReStore Community Center.

The raffle is already underway and viewers have until 4 p.m., Friday, Dec. 20, to participate.
Here how the raffle works:

Tickets are available from any Richland Manor employee or at Richland Manor, 7400 Swaney Road, Bluffton.

First prize - $350 Visa gift card
Second prize - $150 Visa gift card
Third prize - $100 Visa gift card
Fourth prize - $50 Visa gift card

ONU men drop opener to Baldwin Wallace

The Ohio Northern men's basketball team fell in its OAC opener to Baldwin Wallace 72-68 on Wednesday evening at the ONU Sports Center.

The Polar Bears fall to 2-3 on the season and 0-1 in the OAC, while the Yellow Jackets improve to 4-1, 1-0.

Senior Branden Rushton led ONU with a game high 18 points, going 7-of-12 from the field and a perfect 3-of-3 in three pointers.

Senior Dominique Royal added 14 points and junior Jordan Martin chipped in with 11.

Jaron Crowe and Kevin Krakowiak each scored 16 for BW.

A three pointer from Rushton with 4:16 to play cut the Baldwin Wallace lead to 65-64.

ONU's Sessler all-region honorable mention

Freshman Kristin Sessler has been named Honorable Mention All Great Lakes Region in voting done by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA).

This season, Sessler played and started in all 28 matches.

She led the team with 481 digs and was third on the team with 177 kills.

For her efforts during the season, she was named Second Team All-OAC.

Ohio Northern posted a 19-9 record and finished tied for third in the OAC with a 7-2 mark.

Glenn "Gene" Zimmerly was retired after 40 years with Allen County Engineer's Office

Glenn Eugene "Gene" Zimmerly, 78, died Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013 at 1:05 a.m. at Richland Manor, Bluffton, Ohio.

He suffered a stroke 19 years ago and stayed home for 16 ½ years then spent the last 2 ½ years at Richland Manor.

He was born on Jan. 1, 1936, in Allen County, Ohio to Glenn L. and Helen J. (Allstetter) Zimmerly, who preceded him in death. On Sept. 25, 1955 he married Carolyn Joyce McElwain and she survives in Lima.
