Nice to meet you, Holden

Meet Holden Cau-fish (Caufield). He's the new guy at the Ada Public Library. In case you wonder, his name is from the character in Catcher in the Rye. You'll find him on the check out desk.

Social media is a powerful tool and the Ada Icon uses it very successfully to attract viewers.

At the moment the Icon has 490 Facebook friends. We post from one or two items on our Facebook page every day. Here’s some examples of the number of people we’ve reached this spring, which demonstrates our most popular stories. These are the top five stories that attracted viewers from Facebook:

Margaret Louise Williams taught Sunday school for over 50 years

Margaret Louise Williams, 91, died at 8:15 p.m. on June 14, 2014 at Lost Creek Care Center, Lima, Ohio.

She was born on July 23, 1922 in Lima, Ohio to Clifford and Sadie (Hinkle) Fredericks. She was preceded in death by her father, mother and step mother, Violet N. Fredericks. In October of 1941, she married James Robert Williams, Sr. and he preceded her in death on July 4, 1977.

Margaret was a homemaker and a member of the LaFayette Congregational Church, where she served as a Sunday School teacher for over fifty years. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #121 of LaFayette.

Evening garden affair June 23 in Kenton

The Hardin County Men’s Garden Club, with the assistance of the Hardin County Master Gardeners, is sponsoring  “An Evening Garden Affair” on June 23 at the Friendship Gardens of Hardin County, located at 960 Kohler Street, Kenton. The program is from 6-9 p.m. and will feature a presentation by Dr. Laura Deeter, Associate Professor and Coordinator, Landscape Horticulture and Horticultural Science, OSU A.T.I. Wooster, Ohio. 

Sign-up now for June 21 mud volleyball event

A mud volleyball event benefiting Brandy England and family will be held at 10 a.m. on June 21 at Ohio Northern’s mud volleyball court. The donation for teams of four is $20.00.
