After several weather-related delays, Ada spelling bee is March 13

This year's Ada elementary Spelling Bee takes place at 1:15 p.m., Thursday, March 13, in the school Auditorium, accordingto Suzanne Hardesty.

Contestants this year are:

8th grade: Lyric Jones, Terry Sheridan, Kade Cortez
7th grade: Loniesha Lee, Sam Hibbard, Cade Mullins
6th grade: Nathan Hurtig, Olivia Reed, Leah Conley
5th grade: Ryan Kilgallon, Miranda Wills, JJ Sullivan
4th grade: Riley Ferguson, Luci Wall, Lauren McClain

March full of events at Ada schools - here's the highlights

Here's some of the events on the Ada school calendar this month.:
March 12th: Winter Sports Awards at 7:30 p.m.
March 17th: Beta Club Induction in Auditorium 6:30 p.m.
March 21st End of the 3rd 9-week grading period
March 21st: Interclass in Auditorium 7 p.m.
March 25th: 2-Hour early release due to Teacher In-Service
March 27th: FFA Banquet in Cafeteria 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.
March 28th: Grades will be sent home with students.

Connie Gross was retired from Wilson Sporting Goods

Connie Sue Gross, 70, died on Friday, March 7, 2014 at 1:48 a.m. at Lima Memorial Health Systems, Lima.

She was born on October 28, 1943 in Steven Branch, Ky., to James and Pauline (VanHoose) Phillips and they preceded her in death. On July 1, 1961 she married Marion Gross, Jr. and he survives in Alger.

Connie retired after 12 years from Wilson Sporting Goods of Ada, where she worked as a sewer. She operated the Alger Variety Store for 7 years. She was an active member of the Auglaize Free United Baptist Church, Maysville.

Mustard Seed Cafe dinner features for St. Patrick's Day weekend

May Your Glass Be Ever Full.

Mustard Seed Café, 562 N. Main St. in Bluffton, will be celebrating St. Patrick’s Day all weekend. Come share a pint: beer features include Guinness Stout, Harp Lager and Black & Tans.

The café will offer Irish dinner features on Friday and Saturday, March 14 and 15 (5-8 p.m.) in addition to the regular menu. House Irish soda bread will be served all weekend.

Entrees: Gaelic Steak Flambe or Guinness Glazed Flounder (both served with Colcannon potatoes and glazed carrots)
Soup du jour: Leek and Potato Soup
Dessert: Irish Apple Cake with house caramel and chantilly cream

Relay for Life of Ohio Northern University is gearing up for its annual relay held at the King Horn Sports Center on Sunday, March 23. Relay hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

This year’s goal is an ambitious $20,000, but sponsors of the event believe that goal can be raised.

According to Lauren Stahl, “The top three teams thus far in terms of fundraising are Colleges Against Cancer, Walk This Way, and Phi Mu Delta.”

Individuals and teams may still join the event by signing up at: relayforlife.org/onu.
