Ada CIC considers uses for $13K in water resource protection funds
Jamie Hall announces July 2025 retirement
By Paula Pyzik Scott
The October 17 meeting of the Ada Community Improvement Corporation was attended by seven committee members who made reports on Industrial, Commercial, Water Resource Plan and Community developments.
Old Business
President and trustee Jamie Hall provided background information on Water Resource Account Funds which have some $13K that are in excess of the original project’s needs and have been untouched for several years. Hall proposed creating a Brown Water Protection committee as required by the EPA and giving the CIC the opportunity to support new groundwater and aquifer protection projects. He will create a written motion for the December 18 meeting.
New Business
Hall announced that the organization will need to plan for the selection of a new CIC president for 2025 with his pending retirement in July 2025.
Committees
INDUSTRIAL: Hall reported that crops have been harvested on land in the Industrial Park, which currently provides an annual revenue of $10K for the Village of Ada.
COMMERCIAL: Mayor Dave Retterer reported that he attended the soft open of the Regal Beagle, 105 N Main St. He said that the business is in the process of securing a permit to expand food service. Retterer reported that the Old Route 65 brewery, which includes new construction on the former Cole Motors site and renovation of The Armory, is in the process of installing windows. A spring opening is anticipated for this new business.
COMMUNITY: Ada Area Chamber of Commerce director Lindsay Hollar reported on upcoming community events and announced that the next Ada Distinguished Awards will be held on Thursday, February 27. She shared that she is working with two Ohio Northern business classes, which will provide Chamber members with updated Google listings and host a Business Passport week in the spring.
OTHER: The Icon shared that it will be following up on an email response from Verizon representative Christine Ashraf as part of Icon coverage of resident complaints about deteriorating call, text and data service in the Village.
