Novelist Scott Morris will present a lecture and a reading from the manuscript of his novel, Gaine’s Green, on October 1.
The lecture, "Cormac McCarthy's Big Gamble writing The Road," will examine which deep human truths McCarthy believed would survive even when the world appears to have ended. The event is free and open to the public.
Both events will be followed by Q & A sessions, and the reading will be followed by a book signing.
Scott Morris is the author of two novels, The Total View of Taftly and Waiting for April. He was co-founder of The Oxford American magazine, serving as its founding managing editor, and bringing novelist John Grisham aboard as publisher. Scott also served as assistant editor for The Weekly Standard magazine, and has published in The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal and The Los Angeles Times.
Morris has taught creative writing, ghost written numerous novels and non-fiction works, and continues to write novels. Currently he is a fellow at the University of Mississippi’s Declaration of Independence Center for the Study of American Freedom.
