OLD FORT __ The visiting Ada High School boys soccer team manhandled non-league foe Old Fort 6-0 Saturday afternoon, September 14.
The Bulldogs led the Stockaders 2-0 at the half, then poured it on with four more goals after intermission.
Ada improved to 6-3 overall with the road victory. Old Fort dropped to 0-5 after the defeat.
“We played a great game,” said Bulldog first-year head coach Aaron Acheson. “The defense earned a clean sheet. I am really proud of how they competed and won balls.
“We were physical and aggressive while playing the ball, and did not allow Old Fort to generate any shots on goal,” he continued. “The midfielders did a great job pressuring up and taking away Old Fort’s transition to offense.
“It was a great team win,” he added.
Neither team scored for the initial 29 minutes. Ada then dented the nets first when Andrew Allen scored on an assist from Logan Jolliff with 11 minutes left in the first half.
A minute later, Allen netted his 13th goal of the season from an Evan Miller feed to make it 2-0.
Senior Nathan Williams scored on a penalty kick eight minutes into the second half to stretch the lead to 3-0.
Jolliff then found the back of the net off a Williams assist with 16 minutes remaining to extend the margin to 4-0.
Jolliff scored again off a ball from Chase Jarrett. Sophomore Carson Conley closed the scoring on another assist from Jolliff to provide the final margin of six.
“We controlled the ball and kept the ball in our attacking third,” summed up Acheson. “Attackers were unselfish with the ball and made the extra pass. We assisted on all six goals. We had several great through balls to set up great scoring opportunities.”
Jolliff scored twice to advance his season total to nine goals. He also added a pair of assists to give him four helpers this year.
Allen scored twice, while playmaker Williams registered his sixth goal and his team-high 13th assist.
In a scheduling change, the Ada boys host former league foe Spencerville (4-3-1, 2-1 NWC) Monday, Sept. 16 at 5 p.m. instead of playing them on the road. It will be the fourth Bulldog boys/girls home varsity doubleheader already this season.
The improved Bearcats had their three-game win streak snapped Saturday at St. Marys by a 6-1 score. Spencerville has outscored its opposition 15-6 in their last four games.
The Bulldog girls will then host Lima Senior (4-3) Monday evening at 7 p.m.
