2nd Public meeting to discuss proposed safety improvements for the intersection of Buckeye Ave and Main Street.
Review of 1st Public Meeting held June 13th, 2023.
a) The intersection of Buckeye and Main is a safety concern.
b) One-way traffic pattern would improve the intersection – traffic should be one-way east from Gilbert to Johnson.
c) Reverse angle parking on the south side of Buckeye seems to be the best option to increase parking on Buckeye Avenue.
d) The Buckeye Improvement Project should be professionally engineered and contracted out for best results.

Discussion of 2 concepts for safety improvement (A & B)
A) One-way design with traffic flowing away from Main Street on both sides: traffic would flow east towards Johnson St. and west towards Gilbert St.
B) One-way design with traffic flowing east from Gilbert St. to Johnson St.
Preliminary cost of proposed changes to the traffic pattern.

- April 2022 – started conversation about possible changes to Buckeye in regard to safety and parking.
- May 5th, - reached out to Choice One for possible solutions and preliminary drawings.
- May 16th – 18th , 2022 Received preliminary study information and drawings (cost of $750.00)
- May 20th, 2022 shared preliminary information with 2 business owners on Buckeye and informed Council.
- October 4th, 2022 – Committee meeting to discuss improving safety of the Buckeye and Main intersection.
- November 1st, 2022 – Committee meeting to continue discussion – decided to table until 2023.
- April 18th, 2023 – Committee meeting – discussion included the decision to hold a public meeting.
- May 16th, 2023 – Council set public meeting date, place, and time. (tonight’s meeting).
- June 13th, 2023 – Special Council Meeting for 1st Public Meeting to discuss proposed safety improvement.
- May 7th, 2024 – Council Memo requesting 2nd Public Meeting and review of 1st Public Meeting.
