ADA – On February 4, the Ada High School girls basketball team was seeded seventh in the Div. IV drawing for the 12-team Wapakoneta district.
The Bulldogs (8-11) will get a rematch against local foe Waynesfield-Goshen (9-10) Wednesday, February 21 at Ada in the first round of tournament play.
The victor will visit third seed St. Heny (12-5) in the sectional finals Saturday, Feb. 24. Ada lost a close game 48-45 at Waynesfield December 28.
Bulldog senior guard Olivia Burkhart scored a career-high 28 points in that nailbiter. Tiger junior Tatelyn Faraglia led W-G with 18 points. Waynesfield junior post Raegan Hutchison scored 13 points despite spraining her ankle in the first half and missing part of the contest.
“I am good with the draw,” said second-year Ada head coach Zach Ricker.
“We are happy with our draw,” said W-G head coach Jocelyn Hennon. “It’s always a competitive game when we play Ada, and I feel we are evenly matched.”
Minster (14-5) is the top seed, with Marion Local (13-6) second. Upstart Perry (13-4) earned the fourth seed.
Ninth seed Upper Scioto Valley (5-15) got a first round bye. The Ram girls will take on the winner between Marion Local and 11th seed Hardin Northern (3-15).
Fifth seed Spencerville (11-8) hosts sixth seed New Bremen (9-10) in the first round, with the winner moving on to play Perry.
The sectional winners advance to the Wapakoneta district.
