Lily Baumgartner wins 100 butterfly, 100 backstroke

NAPOLEON__The Ada High School swim teams competed well at the 16-team Napoleon Wildcat Invitational Saturday, December 9.
Bulldog junior ace Lily Baumgartner won the 100 butterfly and the 100 backstroke events.
The Bulldog girls finished a solid seventh out of 16 teams with 93 points. Ottawa-Glandorf won the girls team crown with 390 points.
Perrysburg won the boys meet by a single point over Ottawa-Glandorf, 383-382. Ada came in ninth out of 13 male squads with 55 points.
O-G won the combined meet with 772 points, 70 points ahead of second-place Perrysburg. The Bulldogs were eighth in the combined boys/girls standings with 148 points.
Several Ada swimmers posted personal-best times at the big meet.
“Alyssa Nau got a personal best in the 100 breast (1:23.69,14th place),” said second-year Ada head coach Ashley Robey.
“Lily broke her previous 500 free record Thursday and her 200 IM record Thursday. She won both her individual events and is hitting times very close to her state times last year.
“Lydia Demascio got a personal best in her 100 backstroke (1:15.44). Kaden Clum got personal bests in the 50 and 100 free. Jacob Szippl got a season-best in his 100 back (1:09.46, 13th). Sam Crawford got personal-bests in his 50 and 100 free.
“The girls relays both dropped time and we are still playing around with the boys relay to see what order works best,” she added.
Promising freshman Tim Chrissobolis touched eighth in the 200 IM (2:30.12), and came in 10h in the 100 breaststroke (1:17.89).
Ada senior Jack Baumgartner finished 10th in the 500 free.
Sophomore Lydia Demascio took 11th in the 100 backstroke.
Ada swims at Van Wert Thursday, December 14 at 5:30 p.m.
