The Ada High School girls soccer team received a five seed in the nine-team Div. III sectionals drawing Sunday, October 8.
The Bulldogs (7-5-3) will host seventh seed Galion (3-8-2) in the first round match Tuesday, October 17 at 5 p.m.
The winner advances to visit top seed Van Buren (9-2-2) Thursday, Oct. 19 at 5 p.m. Ada lost at home to VB 3-0 Oct. 4.
“I am happy we get to host so the girls get one last game in War Memorial Stadium,” said Ada head coach Doug Dewese, whose roster features eight seniors. “We also get the seventh seed who, on paper, looks like a good contest for us.
“On the flip side, we are the only one in our bracket with the earlier Tuesday game, and a win takes us on the road to number one seed Van Buren,” he continued.
“I think we can compete with Van Buren should we get to that step,” he offered. “Galion will be a bit of an unknown for us.”
Against their three common opponents, Galion went 0-2-1. They tied Lima Senior 1-1, and lost to Upper Sandusky (6-0) and Tiffin Columbian (2-0).
Ada was 3-0 against their three common foes, beating Columbian 5-2 in the season opener. The Bulldogs also defeated Lima Senior 3-0 and downed Upper Sandusky 4-2.
The district semifinals and finals are in Bluffton Oct. 24/26.
NWC champion Bluffton (9-5-2) is seeded second, with league runner-up Allen East (14-3) third.
The Pirates host eighth seed Mansfield Christian Oct. 19, while AE hosts sixth seed Upper Sandusky the same night. If both win, the NWC rivals would meet in the district semis Oct. 24 in Bluffton.
The Pirates won the September 19 battle over AE, 3-2.
