The Ada girls soccer team kicked off its season with a decisive 5-2 win at Tiffin Columbian Saturday evening.

“I am glad our eight seniors got to start the season with a win,” said second-year Lady Bulldog head coach Doug Dewese. “It was an excellent effort for the team to open the season with.”

Ada led 3-1 at the half and dominated throughout.

Senior Ella Marshall tallied three goals, and she also dished out one assist.

Senior Olivia Burkhart netted two goals, and junior Lexi Poling passed out a pair of assists.

“Ella had a hat trick, Olivia added in two goals and Lexi with the assists showed a well-rounded attack,” noted Dewese.

Senior keeper Katie Sizemore contributed 14 saves in goal.

“Katie had some phenomenal one v. one saves at key moments that kept Tiffin from getting back in the game,” he offered.  “We also had some unsung heroes that won’t show up in the scorebook.

“Kailey and Karley Wagner, Reese Jordan, Alex Gibson and especially Jenna Rodrigues played well,” he continued. “Jenna stepped into an unfamiliar role as a center-midfielder in the second half and played some shutdown defensive soccer, as well as generating attacks,” he added.

Ada hosts Ft. Jennings Thursday, August 24 in the home opener at 7:00 p.m.
