Bulldog baseball falls to big-hitting Riverdale

By Cort Reynolds

MT. BLANCHARD–The Ada High School varsity baseball team battled back but gave up nine runs in the late innings as Riverdale pulled away to post a 13-4 non-conference win Tuesday evening, April 11.

Ada fell to 2-4 overall with the defeat.  Riverdale improved to 5-1 with the victory.

The Falcons methodically built a 6-0 lead after five frames, but the Bulldogs scored all four of their runs in the top of the sixth inning to pull within 6-4.

Yet Riverdale then exploded for seven runs in the bottom of the sixth to put the game out of reach.

“It was 6-4 going into the sixth and we did not play defense well enough to continue to stay in it,” said Ada head coach Toby Smith. “We made three critical errors in that inning which cemented the outcome.”

Sophomore second baseman Levi Green led the eight-hit Bulldog offense with three singles. Senior Roman Snyder smacked a double.

Senior Levi Sousley and Mason Wibley each had an RBI hit.

Dalton Amos drove in a run.

Senior Spencer Wall contributed a single and a run. He started and pitched 5 1/3 innings. Wall gave up 10 hits and four earned runs, and registered two strikeouts.

Ada left eight runners on base, while the Falcons stranded five.
