State releases automated vehicle considerations for rural environments

COLUMBUS __ In a little under a year, DriveOhio’s Rural Automated Driving Systems (ADS) project collected nearly 60 terabytes of data that will help define future technology needs for automated vehicles in rural environments. While automated driving systems have the potential to dramatically improve roadway safety, data shows that these systems must be refined to maximize that potential in rural areas.

AHS golf team defeats Devils, notches 1st win

ARLINGTON __ The visiting Ada High School boys varsity golf team beat Arlington in a dual match at Sycamore Springs Golf Course Tuesday afternoon, August 13.

Improving Ada (1-1) earned its first win of the season by 13 strokes over the Red Devils, 209-222.

Bulldog senior Ethan Lawrence was match medalist after registering a back-nine hole score of 48.

Sophomore Brody Rister shot a 51 to come in second for the Bulldogs.

Sophomore Lawson Klingler was right behind him, carding a solid round of 52.

Junior Sam Crawford was the fourth Ada scorer with a 58.

Local author tells sculptor and poet's story in Just Dewey

The work of new Bluffton author Tom Arnold has arrived at virtual and local retailers with the story of sculptor and poet Dewey Severs (1941-2020), who worked a variety of physically demanding jobs until three heart attacks left him bankrupt. 

Just Dewey: A Journey from Poverty to Creative Genius tells how Dewey began dreaming of creating art with horseshoes and saw God giving him a new direction in life. The book follows Dewey from a childhood filled with hardship in the Missouri Ozarks, through his becoming a husband and father, to finally settling near Albuquerque, New Mexico. 

Preston promotes Ag interests at Buckeye Girls State

Buckeye Boys State and Buckeye Girls State are American government learning experiences hosted by the American Legion and the American Legion Auxiliary that are dubbed “A Week to Shape a Lifetime.” A conversation with Aidra Preston, an Ada High School student who participated in summer 2024, makes it also sound like a lifetime compressed into a week.

The Ada Exempted Village Schools will host a district-wide Open House on Thursday, August 15 from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m.
