Chad Everett Goodin served in the U.S. Army

Chad Everett Goodin, age 47, of Alger, passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2024, from injuries incurred from a motorcycle accident. 

He was born on April 7, 1977 in Lima, Ohio to Dallas Goodin and Saundra (Pinks) McCracken. His father preceded him in death and his mother Saundra survives in Ada. On September 26, 2015 Chad married Darcy R. McDowell and she survives in Alger. 

Also surviving are his seven children: Troy Goodin, Ryley (Michael) Evans, Kyle Goodin, Bryce Tidd, Delno Tidd, Benjamin Tidd and Gracelyn Goodin; four grandchildren: Braxton, Milo, Link and Koda; and sister, Melissa Goodin. 

GRAPHIC STEAM Saturday, Sept 14

The Ada Public Library invites kids in grades K-8 to STEAM Saturday activities that encourage curiosity and learning. The program will be led by ONU science professors Todd McAlpine and Teyve Celius, with local artist Andy Steingass.  The theme is Looking at Properties of Molding Materials (for example, clay, magic sand, play doh, silly putty, sculpy, etc). Come early for snacks. The program runs from noon to 1:00 p.m.

September 13 Statement by the Hardin County Sheriff's Office

On September 12, 2024, at approximately 10:07 p.m. the Hardin County Central Dispatch Center received a 9-1-1 call regarding a motorcycle accident in the 17000 block of State Route 235 in Roundhead Township.

Falcons shut out Ada Bulldogs girls soccer

MT. BLANCHARD __ The visiting Ada High School girls soccer team fell behind early and lost 7-0 at North Central Ohio Soccer Association power Riverdale on Thursday evening, September 12.

The Bulldogs dropped to 5-3 overall and 0-2 in NCOSA play with their third straight defeat.  

League co-leader Riverdale improved to 6-2 overall and 2-0 in NCOSA after the victory. They are tied with Liberty-Benton and Van Buren atop the tough league standings.

The Falcons have won back-to-back district championships by beating Bluffton in the final twice, both times on the road. 

Ada Bulldogs boys soccer edged by Riverdale

MT. BLANCHARD – The visiting Ada boys soccer team lost a high-quality 3-2 nailbiter on grass at North Central Ohio Soccer Association foe Riverdale on Thursday evening, September 12.

The Bulldogs battled back to tie it up twice from one-goal deficits, but could never grab the lead in the intense contest.

Ada dropped to 5-3 overall and 0-2 in tough NCOSA action with the close defeat.

Riverdale evened its marks at 4-4 overall and 1-1 in NCOSA play after the hard-fought win.

Weather permitting, the ONU Observatory will be open to the public on Friday, Sept 13, from 8:30 - 10:30 p.m. On Sunday, Sept 8, Saturn will be at opposition.

``Opposition" is the planetary configuration in which the planet appears in the opposite direction as the Sun from the Earth's perspective. It is also the time of closest approach to the Earth, making Saturn look bigger and brighter than usual.
