LIMA– The Lima Symphony Orchestra returns to the Lima Public Library, 650 W Market St., at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 11, to highlight the percussion section. Mornings with the Maestro are vibrant educational programs dreamed up by Maestro Andrew Crust.
Maestro Crust and Lima Symphony Orchestra percussionists Renee Keller and Sarah Waters will introduce young audiences to all the variety percussion has to offer–complete with hands-on activities for the little ones! This program is appropriate for all ages and is free and open to the public.
This program sets the stage for the Lima Symphony Orchestra’s family concert at 3:00 p.m. on February 12: “Wall to Wall Percussion” with host Vern Griffiths. For more than a decade, Griffiths has played dozens of performances of his kids’ concert Wall to Wall Percussion with the Vancouver, Victoria, Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, and Toronto Symphonies. Now it is Lima’s turn to experience this fast-moving, foot-stomping percussion bonanza in its US Premiere. This kid-friendly percussion experience demonstrates the musical potential of everyday objects – showing that we are only limited by our own creativity!
Mornings with the Maestro performances are part of the Lima Symphony’s ongoing commitment to music education and their firm belief that music and the other arts are critical tools in building strong communities. This series is supported by The Lima Public Library, Keystone Meats, and The Rotary Club of Lima.
