OTTAWA – The Ada High School swim team competed well in a four-team meet against Bluffton, McComb and St. Henry at the Putnam County YMCA Monday evening, December 12.
The Bulldogs went 2-1 in the dual meet event. (Individual results.)
In the combined boys/girls scores Ada beat St. Henry 75-63, defeated McComb 84-8 and lost to Bluffton 95-58.
The Lady Bulldogs defeated St. Henry 47-44 and swept McComb 51-0. Bluffton edged the Ada girls, 45-38.
In the boys dual meet results, the Bulldogs edged St. Henry 28-23, beat McComb 33-8 and lost to the Pirates 50-20.
“The team has been hit with the bug that has been going around,” said Ada head coach Ashley Robey. “We had one swimmer who had to miss, which dropped us down to one girls relay again.
“I can really see the hard work paying off,” she added. “A lot of the kids weren't feeling their greatest, but surprisingly most of them dropped time.”
Ada sophomore Lily Baumgartner broke her personal-best record in the 200 individual medley at 2:16.67. She also won the 100 backstroke in 1:02.04.
Junior Kaitlyn Bowden won the 200 freestyle in 2:27.95, and took second in the 100 butterfly (1:11.84). Senior Carlie Oldfield won the 50 free in 26.16.
Senior Kayla Wince took second in the 100 breaststroke (1:25.2).
