New faculty at Ohio Northern, part 1

The Icon recently reported on the Ada Town & Gown banquet, where new Ada community leaders were introduced. In collaboration with Ohio Northern's Office of Communication & Marketing, we are also introducing new faculty members. This is the first of several installments.

Dalia Abdelhamid is an Associate Professor of Medicinal Chemistry. She comes to the Raabe College from Simon Fraser University, Vancouver, British Columbia, where she was a research scientist and chemistry instructor, having previously taught as a member of the Faculty of Pharmacy at Minia University in Egypt.

Dalia earned her master of science degree and Ph.D. with a concentration in medicinal chemistry from The Ohio State University. She completed postdoctoral training at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, and The Ohio State University. Dalia earned a bachelor of pharmacy degree from the Faculty of Pharmacy at Cairo University in Egypt. She is a licensed pharmacist in Egypt. Her research focuses on organic synthesis of novel agents to treat cancer.

Jeremy Agozzino is an Instructor of Technological Studies. Jeremy received his Masters in Technological Management from BGSU in 2020 and is currently pursuing a Doctorate of Philosophy in Technology Management at Northcentral University. Jeremy lives in Elida (Lima), Ohio with his wife, Alisa Agozzino, who is a professor in the Business college. They have two children, Isaac (12) and Olivia (10), who attend Elida public schools. Jeremy and Alisa both graduated from Ohio Northern University in 2001, and love the Polar Bears! After graduating from ONU, Jeremy worked in the lighting, automotive, and steel industries for 21 years and he hopes to bring his industry experiences to students in Technological Studies. Outside of work, Jeremy loves doing things with his family, coaching his kids, Ohio State sports, Cleveland sports, golf, fishing, and working out.

Marwan Alkhweldi is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Electrical & Computer Engineering in the Computer Science Department. He earned his master's degree and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering both from West Virginia University. Marwan worked for several companies and institutions that include Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd, ZTE Corporation, and Regional Research Institute at WVU. His research interests include detection, estimation, and statistical signal and image processing in the area of radio astronomy and wireless systems. Outside of work, Marwan enjoys spending time with his family. He grew up playing soccer, so you might find him searching for a good pick-up game on the weekend.

Beau Baez joins the law school as an assistant professor after a two year visiting position at the University of Idaho College of Law. Before beginning his teaching career in 2004, he worked as Counsel for the Multistate Tax Commission in Washington, DC and served as General Counsel for a higher education accrediting agency. During his teaching career he has taught in the areas of Tax, Business, Contracts, Torts, Wills & Trusts, Civil Procedure, Criminal Law, and Criminal Procedure. In 2017 he created a YouTube channel called Learn Law Better, where he helps pre-law and law students with the skills needed to succeed in law school--nearly 80,000 subscribers, 170 videos, and over 3 million views. For fun, he enjoys hiking and is discovering the trails near Ada--just slightly less mountainous than those in the Rockies.

He received his Ph.D. in the History and Philosophy of Science from the University of Notre Dame in 1998. Darrin lives in Lima with his wife Paula and their son Liam.
