Letter: USV Ambulance District update

From Aunee Helton, Upper Scioto Valley Ambulance District
Advanced EMT, Central EMS Chief

Our community NEEDS YOU!!

As many of you know, your Upper Scioto Valley 911 service has operated as Alger EMS and Roundhead EMS for many years. In June of 2021, we merged together to become one. Your community 911 service is now Upper Scioto Valley Ambulance District. With that being said, we are still operating BOTH stations.

So, just a quick glance of things. We have 2 stations, 3 ambulances, and divided manpower of 19 individuals. This is AMAZING, for the most part. However, the majority of our CERTIFIED volunteers reside on the North side of our district around the Alger/McGuffey area. We currently have one certified member in the South side of our district.

We are seeking dedicated individuals to help operate the South side of our district. We need certified personnel (EMR, EMT-Basic, Advanced EMT, Paramedic). Our Upper Scioto Valley Ambulance District Board pays for you to become certified with the agreement of you staying with our ambulance service.

Like most departments we do have requirements as far as on call hours, number of runs, and holiday hours. We also have policies, procedures, by-laws, and protocols we must abide by. However, we offer run compensation, pager pay, special detail pay, and holiday pay.

OUR COMMUNITY NEEDS YOU!!

As Central EMS Chief for Upper Scioto Valley Ambulance District, I am asking for you to give back to our communities. We need more certified personnel that reside in the South side of our district to keep our Roundhead station operating. We need you to make a difference, we need your help, we need you to keep our community well.

Currently for the 2022 year we have had a total of 345 calls, 67 in the Roundhead area, 195 in the Alger area, 51 in the McGuffey area, and 32 in surrounding areas.

To make a difference, contact me at the information listed below.

Thank You,
