Raingutter Regatta is a kid-magnet for scouting

On Tuesday, July 26, Ada Cub Scout Pack 124 drew a dozen or so youngsters to a meeting introducing them to scouting. The kid-magnet was the Raingutter Regatta, a friendly competition to see who could sail a tiny catamaran down a length of raingutter with lung power alone.

Prospective scouts and younger siblings tested their lungs and aim, often finding the task harder than it might sound. Many brought boats with custom paint work. The kids cheered each other on and suggested tips on technique when sails went sideways.

Leader Amy Stockert coordinated the event, welcoming parents and children to the scouts picnic shelter at Ada Park. She also introduced Trent Boedicker, who will become the Cub Scout leader at the next new charter time, and Ada Scoutmaster Don Spar.

Families interesting joining Cub Scout Pack 124 were provided with the following schedule and contact information. Boys and girls are welcome to join the BSA.
