Sometimes You Feel Like a Nut: Almonds and Health

“Sometimes you feel like a nut and sometimes you don’t” was a classic TV commercial in the 1970s that advertised the candy bars Almond Joy and Mounds. Mounds is dark chocolate-covered coconut, while Almond Joy is milk chocolate-covered coconut with almonds. Mounds was introduced in 1921 and Almond Joy did not hit the market until 1946. Mounds was popular with the U.S. Military during World War II, which they purchased for soldier rations.

Ada is about to experience its first Ohio Bigfoot Jamboree. Local Criptids of the Corn podcasters and Bigfoot enthusiasts Justin England and Jay Wolber are hosting the event in Ada on Saturday, October 5.

Ada volleyball bests Redskins; Bassitt sets career digs record

ADA – The Ada High School volleyball team defeated visiting Arcadia in a four-set Blanchard Valley Conference match Wednesday, October 2, to celebrate Senior Night in the final home match of the 2024 season.

The Bulldogs lost the first set 25-19, but came back strong to take the last three convincingly 25-19, 25-14, 25-14.

Ada evened its overall record at 10-10 with the win, which improved their BVC mark to 3-6.

The scrappy Redskin girls fell to 3-17 overall and 1-8 in BVC action with the defeat.

Ada boys soccer defeats Hornets, sets three new school records

Jolliff nets 9, Williams gets 6 assists to set school records

RAWSON __ The visiting Ada High School boys soccer team whipped Cory-Rawson 13-0 in a memorable, record-setting North Central Ohio Soccer Association season finale Wednesday night, October 2.

Ada senior Logan Jolliff netted a school-record nine goals, which tied the third-highest single-match total in OHSAA history. The previous Bulldog record of eight goals was set by Jake Poling in 2020.

Two ONU football players face felony charges in Hardin County

On September 29 two Ohio Northern University students who are also on the football team were arrested by the Ada Police Department and charged with felony offenses to be heard by the Hardin County Municipal Court and Judge Gregory A. Grimslid.

Brennon Norris has been charged with menacing and burglary in an incident involving Austin Crouch-Hadley.  A preliminary hearing is set for October 4 regarding these charges.

Cooper Ray Braden has been charged with assault and burglary in an incident involving Austin Crouch-Hadley. A preliminary hearing is set for October 4 regarding these charges.
