Bulldog baseball comeback beats Fostoria

Playing at home, the Ada High School baseball team rebounded from an early deficit to defeat Fostoria 14-8 in a non-conference battle Tuesday evening, April 26.

Ada improved to 5-8 with the non-league victory, while Fostoria dropped to 3-12 with the defeat.

The Redmen scored six first inning runs and added another score in the third to build a 7-3 lead. 

Ada plated two runs in the home third to edge within 7-5. The Bulldogs then took the lead in the fourth frame with three runs.

A bases-loaded walk by by Levi Green cut the deficit to 7-6. Max Puerto then stroked a two-run single to give Ada its first lead 8-7.

Fostoria escaped further damage by snaring a hard line drive to left field to end the inning.

In the top of the fifth, Ada hurler Kadin Phipps pitched around a Kiesen Carmer double. Tyler Jameson executed an unassisted putout at first base to end the inning.

In the Bulldog fifth, Ada consolidated its lead with four more runs. Jacob Sutherly singled, followed by a hit batter. 

Zach Neiswander stroked an RBI single to right field for a 9-7 lead. Two wild pitches by Cramer extended the margin to 11-7. 

Green then beat out an infield single to drive in another run.

Phipps retired the final batter in the Fostoria sixth on a big strikeout. Ada padded its lead further with two more runs. 

In the Redmen seventh, the visitors went out in order on two groundouts and a pop-up that ended the game on a nice running catch by Sutherly in short right-center field. 

Phipps earned his third win with a complete game effort. He scattered eight hits and and struck out four Redmen. He also scored three runs, walked twice and was hit by a pitch two times.

Roman Snyder scored four runs with two hits, a walk and run batted in for Ada, which out-hit the Redmen 11-8.

Green drove in five runs with three hits and a walk. He also scored one run. Puerto drove in three runs with two hits and was hit three times by pitches. 

Sutherly and Spencer Wall each scored twice, drew a walk and knocked in a run. Sutherly also added a hit. 

Neiswander contributed a hit, one run, one RBI and a sacrifice. Lester Amos and Kaine Fisher had a hit apiece, while Fisher added two walks.

Ada (0-4 NWC) plays at league rival Crestview (7-2, 3-1 NWC)Thursday, April 28.

Monday's non-league game at LCC was rained out.
