Kesler, Dean first-place finishers at Indiana Wesleyan Midwest Classic
The Ohio Northern University men's indoor track and field team scored first-place finishes in two events and second-place finishes in three others Saturday, February 5, at the Indiana Wesleyan Midwest Classic at Troyer Fieldhouse.
Marian (Ind.), Bethel (Ind.), St. Francis (Ind.), Huntington (Ind.), Goshen (Ind.), Indiana Wesleyan, Grace (Ind.) and Taylor (Ind.) also competed in Saturday's meet, which did not keep team scores.
The Polar Bears (9-0) were led by junior Hunter Kesler (Oakwood/Paulding) and freshman Jordan Dean (Euclid/Villa Angela Saint Joseph), who posted first-place finishes in the 200 meters and 400 meters, respectively.
Kesler ran the 200 meters in a time of :22.34, and Dean ran the 400 in a time of :50.13.
Seniors Sam Krabacher (Hamilton/Badin) and Patrick Baker (Massillon/Jackson) finished second in the 800 meters and 5,000 meters, respectively.
Krabacher ran a time of 1:57.71, and Baker finished in 15:17.25.
The Polar Bears' 4x400 relay team also scored a second-place finish, posting a time of 3:21.73.
Northern added four more top-five finishes courtesy of sophomores Trey Myers (Dayton/Chaminade-Julienne) and Gabe Hensley (Lebanon) and freshmen Thomas Masterson (Tiffin/Hopewell-Loudon) and Tyrese Barker (Reynoldsburg/Bishop Hartley).
Myers placed fourth in the 800 meters with a time of 1:59.85, giving ONU two of the top four runners in that event.
Hensley placed fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 11.62 meters, and Barker added a fourth-place finish in the high jump with a mark of 1.86 meters.
Masterson finished in fifth in the 3,000 meters with a time of 8:56.52.
Senior Caden Sauerbrey (Dresden/Tri-Valley), juniors Selorm Adehe (Chesapeake, Va./Hickory) and Brooks Blakeley (Versailles) and sophomores David Gross (Prospect/Pleasant Local) and Keegan Digby (Bowling Green/Otsego) all added six-place finishes for the Polar Bears.
Sauerbrey ran the 3,000 meters in 9:03.84.
Adehe ran the 60-meter hurdles in :08.83.
Blakeley ran the 1,000 meters in 2:37.03.
Gross ran the 400 meters in :52.54.
Digby posted a distance of 14.78 meters in the shot put.
The Polar Bears return to action on Saturday, February 12, at the All-Ohio Championships in Westerville.
