Bulldog football win vs. Falcons; three BVC teams are 4-1

MT. BLANCHARD __ The visiting Ada High School football team decisively defeated Blanchard Valley Conference rival Riverdale 35-7 Friday night, October 4, to earn their fourth consecutive victory.

Ada scored 22 points in the first period to seize control and never was seriously threatened.

The Bulldogs improved to 6-1 overall with the convincing victory. Ada is tied with Leipsic and Pandora-Gilboa for second place in the BVC at 4-1.

Ada plays both of those tough teams in their final two regular season games.

The Falcons fell to 2-5 overall and 1-4 in the BVC with the loss.

Weekend Doctor: Finishing antibiotics

Thelma Maxine Smittle was an executive secretary

Thelma Maxine Smittle, 94, formerly of Ada and Westerville, Ohio, died October 2, 2024, at Blanchard Valley Hospital, Findlay, OH of natural causes. 

Maxine was born on January 10, 1930, outside of Cadiz, in Harrison County, Ohio, to Beulah E. (Birney) and Glenn Fletcher Wells. On August 27, 1955, she married Jack D. Smittle, and he survives at Provision Living, Findlay, OH.

Bulldog girls soccer tames Hornets for 9th win

RAWSON – The visiting Ada High School girls soccer team shut out Cory-Rawson 4-0 in their North Central Ohio Soccer Association league finale Thursday night, October 3.

The decisive win extended the Ada girls program record for wins in a single season to nine. The clean sheet was also the fifth Bulldog shutout, another program record for a season.

Senior Lexi Poling scored two goals to pace the victorious offense.

Freshmen Emily Shanks and Rose Baxter each tallied a goal. Freshmen Aliyah Kober and Maire Boulanger dished out one assist apiece.

Ada led 1-0 at the half.

Hardin County Bourbon Ball 2024

The United Way of Hardin County will be holding its second Bourbon Ball, Saturday, Oct. 19th.  The event will take place at the Varsity Venue, 214 W Franklin St. Kenton, Ohio from 7:00 to 10:00pm.

The Bourbon Ball serves as a fundraiser for the United Way of Hardin County.  This year's event is 1970's Disco theme, so grab your leisure suits, bell bottoms and platform shoes and get ready for a groovy time! The evening will include hors d’oeuvres, select free drinks, beverages for purchase, live music, raffle baskets and a live auction.  Allocated bourbon will be raffled and auctioned off throughout the night.
