On January 4, the Ada Village Council held organizational and regular meetings.
Members of council have been sworn in by Mayor Dave Retterer and legal counsel Jane Napier. Newly reelected members Jeff Oestreich and Bob Simmons, and new member Jason Campbell were sworn-in on January 4. New member Sean Beck was sworn-in on December 31.
At the organizational meeting:
- Oestreich was elected as council president and committee assignments were made.
- Meeting dates were established on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at 6:30 p.m. Meeting locations for the council and committees will be the council chambers at 115 W Buckeye Ave.
At the regular meeting:
- Candidate Christina Cross introduced herself to the council and detailed her qualifications for the position of judge on the Hardin County Common Pleas Court.
- Council passed a Resolution authorizing the Mayor to enter into an agreement for engineering and related services for the Grandview Boulevard Reconstruction Project. Construction is expected to take place in Spring 2023.
- The recommendation by the Personnel Committee to hire Jesus Tovar as CM1 (Construction Maintenance) employee was approved by council. Sargeants assessments will take place the week of January 10.
- The recommendation by the Safety Committee to hire James Beltz as patrolman was approved by council.
- Fiscal Officer Patty Navin reported that the first RITA (Regional Income Tax Agency) distribution of $107K was received.
- Village Administrator Jamie Hall reported that work on the elevated water tank is expected to take place during the summer when many ONU students are on break.
