Ada Schools submit financial forecast

The Ada Exempted Village School District has submitted a five-year financial forecast to the Ohio Department of Education as approved by the board of education in November 2021 (full report at Ohio Department of Education).

The report includes both data and notes providing the assumptions used for financial projections including revenue, expenditures and changes in fund balances for 2019-2026.

Turnovers figure in Ada loss to Perry

The visiting Perry boys basketball team put together a half-ending 17-0 run and rolled to a 72-29 win over Ada in non-conference play Saturday night, December 11.

The Bulldogs dropped to 2-3 overall with the loss. Perry improved to 5-1 with the victory.

"We were certainly more competitive than last night vs. Grove, but we just made too many turnovers," said first-year Ada head coach Vince Halliday. 

"We have to be more under control," he added. 

Ada led 2-0 on a layup by senior Cayden Murphy. A layin by Jaden Leal from Murphy, and a Spencer Wall 15-footer kept the Bulldogs in front, 6-4. 

Vieira wins bracket title, new wrestlers get first wins at Lincolnview

The Ada wrestling team participated at the 12-team Lincolnview Invitational Saturday, December 11, with one Bulldog winning a bracket title. 

Spencerville captured the team championship, with Van Wert second.

Bulldog Liam Vieira won the 120 lbs. division title with a perfect 4-0 record on the day. He went 3-0 in pool play with a pin to reach the finals. He then won a 10-7 decision over Renson Spear of Van Wert.

"Liam wrestled a couple very competitive matches today, he worked through some difficult positions and finished his championship match strong after it was a one-point match nearly the entire time," said Ada head coach Eric Perkins.

As a child he sees his little sister stomped to death, then kills the man who hurt her. Having an alcoholic mother, he was removed to live in a group home, which is all that you've heard about and more. When he comes of age he joins the Marines and becomes a deadly sniper. When he leaves the service he becomes a sniper for hire.

EF1 Tornado confirmed by National Weather Service

The National Weather Service has confirmed an EF1 tornado south of Ada at an estimated time of 3:06 a.m. to 3:10 a.m.. on December 11. No injuries or deaths resulted from this event, which had a 1.6 mile path length.

The report reads: “The first sign of tornadic damage was observed at a residence just southwest of the intersection of State Route 309 and 235, where part of the roof was lifted off a barn and multiple softwood trees were snapped and blown in multiple directions.

UPDATE 6:41 PM, December 11 The National Weather Service in Wilmington, Ohio reports that preliminary information shows an EF-1 Tornado damaged a home and a business 2 miles south of Ada.

An EF-1 tornado has wind speeds of 86 To 110 miles per hour. The Ada Icon will post a followup story when the NWS issues its final assessment.

Facebook viewers that reported strong winds damaged Tommy Tire Ada/Ada Truck Sales, 3032 OH-309 and a nearby house.
