Bulldog Amos 1st team all-league gridder; Green, Bolden 2nd team

Ada High School senior lineman Lester Amos was named first team All-Northwest Conference on defense in Fall 2022 voting recently conducted by the league football coaches.

Bulldog sophomore quarterback/return ace Levi Green was named second team All-Northwest Conference as a specialist. 

He was third in the NWC in rushing with 1,025 yards on 191 rushes, and he scored 10 touchdowns. He averaged 5.4 yards per carry and 102.5 yards per game.

Green also completed 63 of 132 passes for 831 yards and seven TDs with nine interceptions this season. He returned one kickoff for a touchdown and averaged 20.8 yards per return.

October 19 School Board meeting summary

The Ada Board of Education held its October meeting at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 19. The meeting included 

  • Report from Apollo Career Center Superintendent Keith Horner
  • Report on a $4K fundraising drive by the Ada United Methodist Church
  • Plans to introduce 24 new employees at the November 7 Town & Gown banquet
  • Comments on the district’s state report card

ATTENDANCE
All board members were present: Amy Mullins - President, Ron Fleming, Matt Gossman, Ted Griffith and Steve Ramey. Staff present: Robin VanBuskirk - Superintendent, Kim Light - Treasurer, Dan Lee - High School Principal, Britton Devier - Assistant High School Principal, Jeremy Clark - Elementary School Principal.

EXECUTIVE SESSION
The board entered a confidential executive session to consider employment matters, resuming the regular session at 5:12 p.m. 

HEARING OF THE PUBLIC
Keith Horner, superintendent of the Apollo Career Center, presented an update to the board.

Email Wellness Challenge: “Unwrap Your Gifts”

Are you interested in improving your wellness by exploring: gratitude, traditional foods with a twist, sustainability, self-care, and more–all wrapped up with new gift ideas?

Ohio State University Extension is offering an “Unwrap Your Gifts” 6-week email wellness challenge to learn about these and other wellness topics. The email challenge connects participants with tips, research, and resources to help blend the traditions of healthy holidays while also taking care of yourself.

Erin Torres flute recital

At 8:00 p.m. on October 26, Dr. Erin Torres will present "Old and New Treasures" in a faculty recital at Presser Hall on the ONU campus.

Dr. Torres is Visiting Assistant Professor in Music and Principal Flute of the Lima Symphony Orchestra; Principal Flute, McConnell Arts Center Chamber Orchestra; Second Flute, Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra; Principal Flute, Queen City Opera.
