Bulldog ace Sumner named to 2nd team All-NWC girls basketball

Ada High School senior guard Courtney Sumner was named second team All-Northwest Conference for the second straight season in voting recently conducted by the league basketball coaches.

Sumner topped the Ada girls team in scoring, three-point goals and steals. The Bulldog girls finished the regular season 11-11 overall and 0-8 in the rugged NWC.

Hardin County–Join Hardin County OSU Extension for a Beef Quality Assurance certification training scheduled for Tuesday, February 28 from 6:30-8:00 pm at the Extension office located at 1021 W Lima Street in Kenton. Beef Quality Assurance training is for beef cattle producers needing to recertify or certify to sell cattle at auctions and other markets.

Join Hancock Park District for ‘Maple Sugarin'

FINDLAY- Spring is almost here and the temperatures are starting to fluctuate. This means that conditions are right for collecting maple tree sap. Step back in time to see the process the pioneers and Native Americans used to collect sap, transport it to the sugar bush, and boil it down to produce sweet maple syrup.

Quarry Farm to host Great Backyard Bird Count hike on Feb. 18

PANDORA—Join birders at The Quarry Farm Nature Preserve & Conservation Farm on Saturday, February 18 for a 9:00 a.m. hike in celebration of the world-wide Great Backyard Bird Count.

Organizers explain, "We will record the species that we spot in the nature preserve and the complete list will be submitted to ebird.org to help set a new record for birding. Dress for the weather and wear comfortable, sturdy walking shoes. Admission is free but donations are appreciated."

Rotary programs with Bulldogs and Bears

The Ada Rotary Club has shared photos from its January meetings including both Ada High School (Bulldogs) and Ohio Northern University (Polar Bear) presentations. One week, the club heard AHS staff Dan Lee, Tim Vernik and Dave Lusk about teaching with technology like 3-D printing. The next week, Dr. Rob Alexander and ONU student Kennedy Aikey presented project from the Institute for Civics and Public Policy (ICAPP).
