It's powerhouse Shawnee over Ada

Elida, Lima Senior, St. Marys on next week's schedule

ADA - The host Ada tennis team lost 5-0 to powerhouse Shawnee on a chilly, windy Thursday at the park courts.

The Bulldog netters dropped to 2-5 after their third straight loss to a bigger Western Buckeye League opponent. Shawnee improved to 9-1 with the convincing victory.

All five varsity matches were decided in straight sets. 

Ada senior Miranda Wills (3-4) lost at first singles to freshman Gabe Burke. 

Bulldog junior southpaw Dexter Woods III (6-1) suffered his first defeat of the season at second singles to sophomore Mason Stahl.     

Allen East stops Ada in softball and baseball

Ridgemont, Upper Scioto, Botkins next for girls • Boys host Ridgemont today

ADA - Host Ada got blanked 5-0 by local traditional arch-rival Allen East in a Northwest Conference softball game marred by wind and cold Thursday evening.

The Lady Bulldogs fell to 5-4 overall and 1-2 in the NWC with the defeat. AE improved to 9-5 (2-0 NWC) with the shutout victory.

AE sophomore Nikki Thaxton hurled a complete game shutout.

The Lady Mustangs scored a run in the top of the first frame. 

In the top of the second, freshman catcher Savana Brooks drilled a two-run homer over the fence in right-center field to build a 3-0 lead.

2 I-75 projects impact travel around Findlay

Ohio Department of Transportation announced two projects that impact traffic on Interstate 75 around Findlay next week:.

• Interstate 75 northbound, on the southern end of the city of Findlay, will have overnight lane restrictions in the two right lanes for bridge maintenance.

The left lane will remain open.

The work zone will begin south of the U.S. 68 interchange and extend to just past the U.S. 68 fly over ramp. 

The lane closures will begin on Thursday, April 22, at 7 p.m. and extend until 7 a.m. on Friday.

• Interstate 75 southbound entrance ramp from Lima Ave will close on April 27 for approximately one week for a culvert replacement

New Leaf celebrates 30th anniversary

New Leaf Lawn and Garden Center, 0395 State Route 235, Ada, is celebrating its 30th anniversary this month, according to Laurie Laird, owner. Several special sales, listed in its Icon display ad, are available. 

Current hours are Mondays to Fridays 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
