Bulldog girl swimmers beat VW at tri meet

By Cort Reynolds

The Ada High School girls swim team defeated host Van Wert last Thursday evening, December 16, in a tri-meet.

The Lady Bulldogs beat Van Wert 46-25, and lost a close meet to Elida 48-41. The Lady Bulldogs are 4-2 this season in dual meets.

The Bulldog boys (3-3) lost to Van Wert 43-12, and fell to Elida 54-18.

The VW boys also edged Elida 43-35, but the Elida girls beat the Cougar girls 59-27.

"I’m really happy with how each of the kids swam," said Ada head coach Katey Stuart. "It was only our second meet of the season, but everyone improved from last week.

"We have a larger girls team this year, so I’m very excited that we’re able to have more relays," she added.

Junior Carlie Oldfield and freshman Lily Baumgartner each won two individual events for the Lady Bulldogs. The duo also each swam a leg for two victorious relay quartets.

Junior Kayla Wince took first in the 100 breaststroke. Sophomore Autumn Andreasen and junior Kaitlyn Bowden each swam on two winning relay foursomes.

Ada sophomore Jack Baumgartner captured two firsts in the dual meet vs. Elida to pace the boys team.
