Quiet, quick Ada council meeting on April 1

The mayor, all councilors, fiscal officer, police chief and legal advisor were all present for the April 1 regular meeting of the Village of Ada Council, which was dispatched in under an hour. (Agenda)

Three names were listed under the Open Floor segment on the agenda with the expectation that they would comment on a proposed ordinance regarding vendors including food trucks. Discussion indicated that two had spoken to the mayor and councilor Bob Simmons prior to the meeting.

There were no resolutions or ordinances on the agenda.

Harrod's Main St. to close for bridge replacement

In the Village of Harrod, Main St. between 4th and 5th Streets will be closed for bridge replacement starting Monday, April 14 for 8 weeks.

There will be no access during this closure.

The Allen County Engineer's Office is responsible for the maintenance of Allen County's local highway system, which includes 352 miles of county roads and 550 miles of township roads.

Also maintained are 378 bridges and over 1,400 culverts of various sizes.

Soybean bag dress to be shown at Governor's Youth Art Exhibit

Senior Aidra Preston had her art juried into the Governor's Youth Art Exhibition. The show opens April 20th at the Rhodes State Office Tower and runs until May 15th.

Aidra's work is a dress made out of soybean bags and bedding bags.

This past weekend Aidra received a scholarship offer from the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design based on her dress that is in the show.

New on Ada Community Calendar: VFW Auxillary meetings

The  VFW Auxiliary Post 9381 at  2147 State Route 235 holds regular meetings on the third Wednesday of each month. 

Meetings begin at 7:00 p.m. All VFW Auxillary members are welcome and encouraged to attend.
