Marvin L. Ford was an auctioneer and farmer

Marvin L.  “Lukey” Ford, Jr., age 81, of Harrod, passed away on Friday, May 13, 2022, at 1:16 p.m. at his home, surrounded by his family.

He was born on December 20, 1940, to the late Marvin Sr. and Ethel (Wierman) Ford.  On August 7, 1961, Marvin married Marilyn (Kline) Ford; they were married for sixty years, she survives in Harrod.

Lady Bulldogs 6th at NWC title meet

The Ada track and field teams competed in the concluding second day of the annual nine-team Northwest Conference championship meet at Crestview Saturday.

The Ada girls finished sixth, with the Bulldog boys coming in ninth. Columbus Grove again won the boys title, but Spencerville overtook Grove to capture the girls team crown.

Junior Courtney Sumner took second in the 400 meters, while sophomore Josie Phillips was second in the 3200-meter run to post the top Ada showings.

Sophomore Julian Grose came in third in the 300 hurdles and fourth in the 110 high hurdles to post the best Bulldog boys finishes.

Garver selected as Correction Officer of the Year

Gregg Garver of Ada has been selected as the 2022 AOCI Correction Officer of the Year. Gregg is a 24-year veteran of the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction (ODRC) and has worked at the Allen Oakwood Correctional Institution during his 24 years. Gregg is the Front Entry Officer where he monitors the staff and outside guests as they enter the prison complex.  

Garver was honored at the Correction Officer of the Year Banquet sponsored by ODRC. The banquet was the final event during the week of May 2, 2022.

Relic of St. Bernadette Soubirous to be displayed in Ada June 2-4

Father Ed Shikina, Pastor of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Ada, Ohio has announced that a relic of St. Bernadette Soubirous, to whom the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared in 1858 in Lourdes, France will be on display for veneration at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Ada, Ohio from June 2-4.

The relic is on loan by the Sanctuary at Lourdes, France on a visit to 40 churches throughout the United States from April to August 2022.

Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church is located at 300 E Highland Ave.

The Hardin County Tractor Pullers have announced their first event of the season: 7 p.m. on June 11 at Ada War Memorial Park.
