Glenn Fields was a former resident
Former Ada resident, Glenn C. Fields, passed away May 6, 2021, in his home at Fairview Park, Ohio.
Glenn was born in Chicago, Illinois, on Oct. 11, 1940, to the late Earl and Jean Fields.
After some early years in Milford, Ohio, the Fields family moved to Ada to open the Fields Bakery on Main Street.
It was here, in Ada, that Glenn spent the majority of his life. He learned at a young age, the value of hard work, loyalty, service, and teamwork, in regards to family, friends, and community.
Glenn was a 1958 Ada High School graduate, and a 1962 graduate of Ohio Northern University. He spent his career as a buyer for Westinghouse Electrical Systems Division in Lima.
Glenn loved the Ada community and the people in it. He devoted his time and energy to organizations such as the Ada Jaycees, the Ada Kiwanis and the Kenton Elks.
He served and mentored the young as a coach for the Ada Peewee Football Program.
Glenn was an avid sports fan and history buff. He loved nature and photography. One of his “greatest loves” were the Black Hills of South Dakota. For 51 years he never missed his yearly trip to see “God’s Country” and friends Scott and Judy Kellogg, whom he “loved like family."
Glenn is best remembered for his amazing storytelling and his infectious laugh. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his partner Clare Vavpot, and children, Jon (Susan) Fields, Blythe (Stephen) Coy, and Brian (Valorie) Fields. Also surviving, are sisters Earlene Phillips and Kim Pifer. He was beloved by 9 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial mass is being held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 5, at The Church of St. Clarence, 30106 Lorain Road, North Olmstead, Ohio.
A private Celebration of Life will be held in Ada on Sunday, June 27,9o for family and close friends. Memorial contributions are suggested to Malachi House, 2810 Clinton Ave., Cleveland, OH. 44113.
