ONU players named to men's and women's all-OAC squads

Ohio Northern senior Sydney Ward (Columbus/Upper Arlington) and sophomore Brynn Serbin (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) were named All-Ohio Athletic Conference in women's basketball for 2020-21 in voting conducted by the league's 10 head coaches.

Ward was named Second Team All-OAC and Serbin was an Honorable Mention All-Conference selection.

Ward led the Polar Bears in scoring (7.6 ppg) and rebounding (6.3 rpg) this season.

A four-year regular in toe rotation, Ward scored 393 points in 80 career games.

Serbin was second on the team in scoring this season at 7.4 ppg and led the team in assists with 31 and steals with 25.

This is her second consecutive season as an All-OAC honoree after receiving Honorable Mention kudos as a freshman last season.

She was also named the OAC Freshman of the Year in 2019-20.

The Polar Bears finished their abbreviated 2020-21 season with a 7-8 record and were 5-7 in OAC play. ONU also reached the semifinals of the OAC Tournament under first-year head coach Mark Huelsman.

Men’s basketball honors
Sophomore C.J. Napier (Miamisburg/Bishop Fenwick) and junior Brandon Waugh (Columbus/Northland) were named All-Ohio Athletic Conference in men's basketball for the 2020-21 season in voting conducted by the league's 10 head coaches

Napier was a Second Team pick and Waugh was an Honorable Mention selection.

Napier is now a two-time All-Conference honoree as he was named Honorable Mention All-OAC in 2019-20.

This season, he led the team and was third in the league in scoring at 18.7 ppg and was second in the league with a team-best 9.4 rebounds per game average.

Waugh was second on the team in scoring at 13.4 ppg and in rebounding at 5.6 rpg.

He led the team and was third in the OAC with 52 assists and led the team and was second in the league with 25 steals.

The Polar Bears finished the abbreviated 2020-21 season with a 5-7 mark and reached the finals of the OAC Tournament under fifth-year head coach Rich Bensman.
