Ada teachers will receive first vaccination on Feb. 19
Ada schools tentatively scheduled a two-hour delay for students on Friday, Feb. 19. The school will confirm this delay earlier in the week of the 19th.
"The purpose for this delay is to allow our staff to receive the first dose of their Covid-19 vaccines," Meri Skilliter, superintendent said.
Her entire announcement is on the school website.
"The governor’s office released a list of schools who should be able to get vaccines each week, with a goal of all educators in the 1B group to have their first shots by March 1," she said.
The state also assigns approved providers to work with schools to vaccinate its employees.
"We are grateful for Ohio Northern University in being a wonderful neighbor and partner, not just in arranging our vaccinations, but also in other areas throughout this pandemic," said Skilliter.
"The reason we are letting you know about this delay now, is to allow families to plan ahead. We have every intention of this being our day for vaccines.
"However, if something happens that our provider cannot get enough vaccines for us, we will let you know by Wednesday of that week, and we will cancel the delay.
"If our staff gets first vaccines as planned on Feb. 19, then we can expect to follow the same schedule on March 19 for their second doses."
