“Do Differences Make a Difference?” is the theme of next week's Hardin County Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day celebration, according to Maya Fischhoff of Ada, one of the planners of the event.
The event is Monday Jan. 18, at 4 p.m., on Zoom and Facebook Live.
"In honor of Dr. King, we will discuss the differences that distinguish and connect us. How can we use these as a foundation to build connection?" said Fischhoff.
A panel discussion, facilitated by Pastor D’Eborah Chapman of Payne Chapel A.M.E. Church, will be followed by audience discussion. Panelists include Kenton residents Abe Oates, Penny Smith, and Nathan Saylor, as well as Columbus resident Meka Shabazz.
This free public program is 60 minutes long and appropriate for people of all ages and interests. The presentation is educational and informative and will not include any proselytizing or political partisanship.
The event is organized by Hardin County Talks, a local group, which seeks to bring our community together on issues of shared interest. Hardin County Talks works with local schools, businesses, government, and individuals to develop and present meaningful, community-wide activities.
